Youth Champs 4 Mental Health (YC4MH) was formed out of a consultation on the formulation of a Fiji National Suicide Prevention Policy in 2008. YC4MH is an organization for young people, led by young people. It is an organization focused on building  resilient populations by encouraging positive coping strategies through the collaboration and implementation of innovative youth based activities.

 

YC4MH have initiated and implemented the most projects and programs on youth mental health and suicide prevention in the region without any core funding. We have represented Fiji in Tonga, New Zealand, Australia, Bangkok, USA, Philippines and the UK. We have most recently included Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati and Papua New Guinea in our regional efforts.

 

We have 100% success rate as we have never lost any young person who has accessed our services to suicide.

Youth Champs is represented on National Committee on the Prevention of Suicide, National Mental Health Advisory Council, National Youth Policy Consultation Collaboration and Community Response to Eliminating Suicide Community.
